The soil structure here is one of the oldest, it was the first to emerge from the sea and dates back to the Cretaceous-Eocene period.

 

The soil of Podernovi has an abundance of clay, which gives it a particular vigour and ability to retain water. The soil has less fossil matter than the other plots but the limestone content remains medium-high.
