The smallest vineyard on the estate facing east, where the sun rises. At the top of a hill, the wind blows constantly between its rows.

Vigneto d'Oriente is San Polo’s smallest vineyard, with an area of about 6,000 square meters (1.5 acres). This vineyard is found at the top of the hill, in a totally open area where the wind is unobstructed and constantly blows between the rows. This exposure to the wind encourages the grapes to ripen evenly and without problems. The vineyard faces east and is exposed to cool air, just like the nearby Podernovi vineyard. The soil is composed mostly of clay with some rocky areas. The grapes we harvest here tend to be very aromatic and are perfect for the production of Rosso di Montalcino DOC. In the warmer years these grapes also contribute to the production of Brunello.
