San Polo Diario della Vendemmia / Harvest Diary / 2020 43 Per la prima volta nella storia di San Polo, abbiamo preparato il terreno per impiantare la varietà Moscato , in un piccolo appezzamento situato sul versante esposto a Sud della tenuta. Questa zona presenta un terreno particolarmente vocato per questa varietà . Il suolo argilloso trattiene molta acqua, limitando più possibile quello stress idrico da cui il Moscato non trarrebbe beneficio. Il nostro progetto è una produzione limitata di Moscadello di Montalcino DOC da vendemmia tardiva. Essendo un vino che rappresenta la storia di Montalcino fin dal 1500, vuole anche essere un tributo alla tradizione di questa terra meravigliosa che ci ha accolto con tanto calore quando è iniziata la nostra avventura ilcinese. For the first time in the history of San Polo, we have prepared the ground for planting the Moscato variety in a small plot located on the south-facing slope of the estate. This area has particularly suitable soil for this variety . The clayey soil retains a lot of water, limiting as much as possible the risk of drought, which would certainly not benefit the Moscato grape. Our plan is to produce limited quantities of Moscadello di Montalcino DOC from a late harvest. Since Moscadello is a wine that has represented the history of Montalcino since 1500, it is our tribute to the tradition of this wonderful wine-growing area, which welcomed us so warmly when our adventure in Montalcino first began.
