Rains, precious gift

Rains, precious gift

We waited and hoped for it and finally, after a few weeks of high temperatures that generated one of the longest veraison in recent years (about 20 days), the rain has arrived! A total of 80mm between Friday and today ... a precious gift from nature, which has enriched the soil with a quantity of water that could easily be enough until harvest. Now the plant no longer works for the vegetative part but works only for the bunch: at this moment the water need decreases and therefore, with these millimeters of rain, the current water balance is optimal.

These recent rainstorms have also lowered temperatures, with maximum no longer exceeding 30 degrees. Finally, in a few days, the north wind should arrive: with its cool and dry breeze, it will determine the ideal conditions for the final ripening phase of Sangiovese, a late ripening variety that, in this particular phase, lives a very decisive moment which will determine the good performance of the year.

Probably it will be a fairly late harvest which, already today, presents all excellent conditions for the unveiling of a vintage of great quality.
